Morocco’s promising midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi has received international recognition after being selected in Opta’s Team of the World Cup 2026 Opening Round. The honour follows an eye-catching performance in Morocco’s 1-1 draw against Brazil, one of the tournament’s leading contenders.
Making his World Cup debut at only 18 years of age, Bouaddi showed remarkable composure and maturity throughout the contest. Rather than being overwhelmed by the occasion, the Lille midfielder embraced the challenge and delivered a display that attracted attention from analysts and supporters alike.
Bouaddi played a central role in Morocco’s ability to compete with Brazil. He recorded 87 touches during the match, placing him among the most involved players on the field. Only Brazil’s central defenders finished with more touches, highlighting their influence in possession.

His standout display against Brazil has only strengthened interest from major European clubs. Several reports have linked the Lille midfielder to elite clubs, including Real Madrid, Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, and Paris Saint-Germain.
